Free money moves anyone can use

These are public programs and money moves, free for everyone, card or not. We gathered them in one place and checked them against official sources. Do one a week and they compound.

1. Never pay an ATM fee again

Out-of-network withdrawals often get charged twice: once by the ATM's owner and again by your own bank. The Allpoint network is the easiest way around that.

40,000+Allpoint ATMs in the US
55,000+worldwide
3,500+Allpoint+ ATMs that take cash deposits
  1. Check if your bank is in. Hundreds of banks, credit unions and online banks give customers fee-free Allpoint withdrawals. Search your bank's app or site for "Allpoint," or call the number on your debit card.
  2. Find machines before you need cash. They're inside stores you already visit, like Walgreens, CVS, Target, Kroger and Costco. Use the Allpoint locator ↗ and save the two closest to home and work.
  3. Online bank? Deposit cash at Allpoint+. If your bank supports it, Allpoint+ ATMs take cash deposits, so you don't need a branch.
  4. Not in the network? Get cash back at checkout. Many grocery and big-box stores give cash back on a debit purchase for free. A few charge a small fee, so ask at the register.
  5. Travel a lot? Use an account that refunds ATM fees. Some accounts refund other banks' ATM fees, for example Schwab Bank Investor Checking, which refunds them worldwide (it requires a linked Schwab brokerage account). Not an endorsement; compare before you open anything.

Never take cash from an ATM with a credit card. That's a cash advance: a fee up front and interest from the first day. And your Money Browser Card is not an ATM card. The fee-free access comes from your own bank's network.

2. Lock your credit for free

A freeze stops most new-account fraud, costs nothing by federal law, and doesn't hurt your score.

  1. Freeze all three: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. A freeze at one doesn't cover the others.
  2. Applying for a loan, card or apartment? Lift the freeze temporarily for a set number of days, and it turns back on by itself. Not sure which bureau the lender uses? Lift all three.
  3. Pull your free weekly reports at AnnualCreditReport.com ↗. Look for accounts you don't recognize, wrong balances and late payments that weren't late. Disputes are free.
  4. Check again a month after any big application to make sure only the inquiries you expected show up.

3. Find money that's already yours

States hold billions in forgotten deposits, refunds and paychecks. Claiming it is free.

  1. Search every state you've lived or worked in, not just where you live now. Try old addresses, maiden names and common misspellings.
  2. Search for family who have passed away. Heirs can often claim what they left behind.
  3. Track down old retirement money from past jobs and check your Social Security earnings record once a year.
  4. Never pay a "finder" service. Every search in Lost & Found is official and free.

4. Get paid three times on every purchase

Cash back stacks because each layer pays separately.

  1. Start at a free cash-back portal, then click through to the store.
  2. Pay with a rewards card and activate any in-app card offers first.
  3. Add the coupon code last.
  4. Pay the balance in full every month. Interest wipes out rewards fast.

5. Cut your monthly bills

The quickest raise is the money you stop paying out.

  1. Make the retention call. Phone, internet, insurance, streaming: ask for "cancellations" and say you're thinking of leaving. Those teams have offers that never appear online.
  2. Set a reminder a week before every promo rate ends, then call again.
  3. Use your library card. Libby, Kanopy and similar apps can replace paid ebook, audiobook and movie subscriptions.

6. Put the rest of Money Browser to work

The idea deck has hundreds more. A few to start with:

  1. I Bonds: US savings bonds that track inflation, up to $10,000 a year per person at TreasuryDirect.
  2. Class-action settlements: open claims for products you've bought, often with no receipt needed for small amounts.
  3. Old utility deposits and paper savings bonds: both often go unclaimed for years.
  4. UK members: check Premium Bonds for prizes you never collected.
  5. Members: read your daily email and act the same day. One move a day is about 365 a year.

Questions

What does "$1 For Life" mean?

Your card is free. Pay $1 once and you're a Lifetime member: unlimited money ideas, every future Bag Drop, AI search and The Method, forever. No subscription, no renewals, no extra fees. The card itself never holds or moves money.

How do member perks work?

Member perks are things only members get: extra free ideas, a personalized email, member-only Vault deals, and Lifetime access for $1. The free public programs on this page are open to everyone, and we list them because they help, not as perks.

What do you do with my email?

We use it to send the Make More Money email and keep your card. We don't sell it. Every email has an unsubscribe link. See our privacy policy.

Will there be a physical card?

Not yet. We're starting digital so it can stay free. If we ever offer a physical card, members hear first.
